My name is John. I'm a software engineer by day and a creative person by night. I’m a traveler, photographer, artist, and curious builder of things—both creative and technical.

I was born in the USA in the 1980s. However, over the last decade, I found myself out of place in America. As time has gone on, the country and culture have branched off into directions I can't relate to. There was a moment sometime around 2020 when I realized I just didn't fit there anymore. I live in Thailand now, and I'm much more comfortable here.

Photography has been a long-time anchor for me. I’m drawn to quiet places, bright lights, and moments that appeal to careful observation. A lot of my time behind a camera is spent wandering—cities, forests, small towns—trying to just stay in the moment and enjoy being in the world.

Travel is a big part of my life, and I try to do it as slowly as I have time for. Living in places for a while rather than rushing through them. When in a new country, I am aggressive about sitting around.

I created this site as a place to solidify my thoughts and collect my art, photographs, and experiences. Though I endeavor to write things that will be useful to those who visit, this is also a bit of a passion project. So, I give myself permission to create what inspires me, even if it will never get linked to or appear in search engines.

I abhor social media and doom-scrolling, but I do make photography and art YouTube videos, and I probably spend too much time on the platform; no one's perfect.

If you enjoy visual arts, curiosity-driven rabbit holes, and the occasional life experiment, you’ll probably find lots of things to enjoy here.
